Hello everyone!

Today Joshua Diemert sits down with Jessika Worniak and Stephen Patenaude, to discuss their belief in sustainability policy, conflicts and agreement with more radical elements of the environmental movement, and the importance of getting kids outside to build a love of environmental protection.

Joshua Diemert is a Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs student at the University of British Columbia. His primary policy interests focus around tech policy, data ownership and cybersecurity. Prior to joining the SPPGA he worked in commercial finance and venture capital in Waterloo, Ontario, with specialities in tech firms, real estate and lean manufacturing.

Stephen Patenaude is a Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs student at the University of British Columbia. He has been a professional tour guide for the Adventure Group based in Whistler, a forest fire-fighter for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and a product guide for the leading outdoor gear brand Arc’teryx based in Vancouver. He is interested in advocacy for the natural world by combining the various academic disciplines he is passionate about—namely public policy, global business, conservation, and sustainability.

Jessika Woroniak is a Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs student at the University of British Columbia. With a background in fisheries research, Jessika holds a BA in Biology from UBC, and in the past three years has studied global fisheries as a research assistant. She aims to participate in solving the complex interdisciplinary issues that threaten the ocean today.
